How much do you spend at Christmas time? According to PwC research released this week, Britain’s Christmas shoppers are amongst the biggest spenders in the world…Santa has expensive taste, clearly!
The PwC research report, Santanomics: The economics of the festive season, states that with an average of around £680 each spent on gifts and festivities across the Christmas period last year, the UK has some of the world’s biggest Christmas spenders.
Ireland topped the bill, with an average of around £750 each.
Ireland and the UK’s Christmas spending even beats the United States, who come in third with an average of £495 per person.
According to the report, the UK and Germany are the only major Western economies to see Christmas spending bounce back to exceed pre-crisis levels in real terms.
